This photo / graphic series occurs inside Carole Lindberg’s workshop, a very old house located in one of the first neighborhoods of Quito: San Roque. Place where my imaginary friends decided to quarantine (March + April 2020).

In this space, a little imagined, I play with them to escape the fears of the present. They accompany me and help me go through life, just as they did when I was a child.

I spent my childhood mostly locked up at home. My mom and granny wouldn’t let my brother and I go out, for fear that something would happen to us, so we stayed at home.

My brother was often bored with me or just wanted to do other things, so I played by myself. I made up a thousand stories but above all, a bunch of imaginary friends to play with.

This work is illustrated by hand, painted with watercolor and mounted on the photographs of Carole’s house.
